Type 30 bayonet with which the Type 99 long rifle was equipped

It was enacted in 1897 as arms for hand-to-hand combats fixed to a Type 30 infantry rifle tip part as an inheritor of
a Murata Type double-edged bayonet, and became the army prime bayonet.
Full length: 51.2cm, blade length: 40cm, blade:  Solingen steel or army sword steel.
An edge is attached from a tip to the place of 19cm.
It was made from 1897 to 1945 for a long period of time for about 50 years. Therefore, many variations exist by the
combination in the shape of a hilt, the color of a blade, and a guard. The Type 38 infantry rifle - the Type 99 rifle,
etc. were equipped with this bayonet.

Early manufacture bayonet.
The section of a hilt, a Tsuka-gashira (a suit sword metal partses), and the tip shape of a scabbard
differ from a lower thing. Although an early product is seemed,it is the blade dyed black.

The middle - last stage manufacture bayonet.
Although the hilt Tsuka and the Tsuka-gashira are carrying out the shape of a square shape commonly called
middle - last stage type, it is the blade polished white.

The bayonet and bayonet holder which are considered to be manufacture of the last stage from the middle.
(A black dyeing blade and straight guard).
That the cutting part is white is the marks where someone tried to polish an edge and which black dyeing peeled off.

a manufacture number stamp.

In a common saying, the feature of an early - the middle is a white polish blade and a hook shape guard.
And the feature of the last stage is a square shape Tsuka-gashira, a black dyeing blade, and a straight guard.
However, it cannot declare that it meets generally so that it may understand also in the upper example.
This is considered to be a difference which depends on manufacture time, each arsenal, and a subcontract manufacture
company.
Although the Tsuka-gashira of the lower berth is square, it is a white polish blade in a hook-shaped guard.
Only the maximum last stage type is clear.
In order that there may be no corroborative data, it is not dared to give an early type - last stage type indication.

In Japan, no swords other than a traditional Japanese sword can be possessed.
A blade is cut by 15cm or less and does not have the value as data. Therefore, in order to introduce in the perfect state, it will
surely look for cooperation to an overseas collector.
