昭和17年、満洲國より日本製鋼所室蘭工業所瑞泉鍛刀所に満洲國建国十周年記念謝恩刀の作刀が下命された。
満洲國産出の鋼材を使用することが条件だった。
最初は南満洲鉄道に下命されたが献上品々質の刀ができず、瑞泉鍛刀所に廻された経緯がある。
堀井俊秀 (昭和９年初月に秀明改名) が作刀。炭素含有量が違う5種類の鋼材 (1:0.9%C  2:0.6%C  3:0.5%C　4:0.19%C　5:0.2%C)を混ぜ合わせ鍛錬、以降の工程は通常の日本刀作刀と同じ。
四方締め造り込みで三振り作刀した。満洲國皇帝より昭和天皇への献上品とされた。

　In 1942, Manchukuo requested the Japan Steel Works Muroran Industrial Factory Zuisen Sword Workshop to make the expression-of-gratitude sword of the tenth anniversary of the founding of the country of Manchukuo.
　It was conditions to use the steel materials of the Manchukuo production. Although Manchukuo requested South Manchuria Railway at first, the sword of the quality of presentation articles was not made.
　Therefore, Manchukuo has the circumstances where the request was done again in Zuisen Sword Workshop.
　The noted swordsmith Toshihide Horii of Zuisen Sword Workshop did the sword making.
　The steel materials (1.09%C  2.06%C  3.05%C   4.019%C   5.02%C) which are five kinds from which a carbon content is different were mixed and forged. Subsequent processes are the same as the usual Japanese sword making.
3 sword makings were carried out by the four-quarters bundle forged lump.
　It was offered to Showa Emperor by the Manchukuo emperor.

　名代として参加される高松宮殿下を新京駅に出迎えた
　満州国皇帝溥儀(左)。




　On May 28, Showa 17, Manchukuo emperor Puyi (left) met
　His Imperial Highness Prince Takamatsu who participates
in the 10th anniversary celebration of the Manchuria
founding of the country at the Shinkyo-station as Showa
Emperor's substitute.

Toshihide Horii is a swordsmith representing prewar days. It was also named Kaneaki, or Zuisen. He is one person of
the 12 top of a Japanese swordsmith prewar days.
